Good luck to everyone taking part in the Green Belt Relay on Sunday! We have 3 teams of (almost) 11 runners completing the loop of London. We will be setting off from Hampton Court at 8:30am tomorrow and returning to Bushy Park Sports Club at 5:30pm Sunday evening (all welcome to join us there for a picnic/BBQ).

Green Belt Relay 2022 – Sign Up Now!
We have now filled our 3 Green Belt teams and have 33 runners that will be taking part. We often have people unable to run though so keep a reserve list. If you are interested in the event, please do add your name to the reserve list.
The Green Belt Relay is one of the highlights of our running year. After two years away, the event is returning on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th May 2022.
>>> Green Belt Relay Sign Up <<<
The event is a 220 mile team relay divided into a route of 22 stages that circle London. Starting at Hampton Court, teams of 11 runners each run one leg on Saturday and one on Sunday to navigate London and end up back at Bushy Park Sports Club, which is the Stragglers new HQ, for a big party.
Each leg varies in length between 6 and 13.5 miles. By running two legs over the weekend, runners average 20 miles but some will run much less, and others will run much more. Stages have different lengths and difficulties so each runner is assigned a suitable leg. The run follows most of the Green Belt Way so expect beautiful countryside along the way. The course is marked but some self navigation is required along the route.
If you want to take part, you must be able to run on both Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th May. There is an option to stay overnight in Essex to make a whole weekend of the event. We have a block booking at the Premier Inn, Basildon if you wish to stay out.
The event is partially subsidised by the club. To take part and just run will cost £10 (that is just £5 per run!). If you want to stay over in Essex, rooms are £22 per person. If you want a single to yourself it will be £44 (subject to availability).
More details about the event, including maps of the course can be found on the Green Belt Relay website. If you want an idea of what it is like in a 26.2 team, some photos of the 2019 event can be found here. Please do speak to people who have done the event before to get more details.

Mob Match vs The Stragglers – Sunday 12th December
This Sunday we have our annual mob match against The Stragglers!
For those un-familiar with a mob match, the event is open to all and encourages as many people to take part as possible. We welcome runners, walkers, kids (on bikes, scooters or in buggies) and dogs. Participants do not need to be club members, so bring along your friends, family, neighbours, pets or anyone else you can convince to come along. The aim is to be the club with the most participants around the course (yes, the dogs count too!). The club with the biggest representation take the mob match prize and the losers get the stuffing!
The event is based at the Surbiton Racket and Fitness club. Please arrive in time to register in the outside marquees. The course will be around the roads of Berrylands, along Lower Marsh Lane and back up Villiers avenue to finish at the club.
Refreshments and raffle prizes after.
- 10am registration.
- 10:30am walker’s start.
- 11am runners start.
Register now as a Runner or Volunteer, as hosts we need quite a few, everyone counts!

River Relays – Results
Well done to the 5 teams that competed in the River Relay today. Our highest placed team finished in 6th place overall (26.2 – Windsor Castle was made up of Joe Chang, Anthony Brooke, Dmirty Selemir, Alice Tozer and Ryan Lambrix).
Alice Tozer was highest placed on a stage finishing 2nd female.
There is a prize for most accurate finish time prediction. From our teams, 26.2 – Eton College were most accurate finishing 57 seconds ahead of predicted pace. Well done Rike Jone, Jacqueline Chang, Peter Grecian, Paul Wallis and David Pimm.
Special mention goes to our later stage runners who got the hottest run of the day, particularly Kate Hancock, Vicki Kirk and Maria Cenalmor who started their stages after midday so got well and truly cooked!
Our teams results are included below or can be viewed here.
Full results from the River Relays are available here.
