Want to do something different with your Sunday morning run (or walk)? Why not join a few friends for a social run around Bushy Park and raise some money for a good cause at the same time?
On 29th January at 10am, a group of us will be running a couple of laps (10km) of Bushy Park in aid of “Run for Orla”. We will be raising money to support two charities, Shooting Star Chase and SANDS. For those who don’t fancy 10km, there is also a 5km option.
Orla was born on 26th July 2016 with Jeunes Syndrome, causing reduced lung volume and consequently, a life expectancy of only a few hours. Orla defied all expectations, living for three days, which she was able to spend entirely surrounded by family thanks to the wonderful facilities provided by Shooting Star Chase Hospice.
For more information about Orla, and the work of Shooting Star Chase, please see: Orla’s Story
Run for Orla is a virtual run, meaning that it can be done anywhere, at any time. Entry costs £10 (£5 for children). Once the run has been completed, proof is submitted via email, using a screenshot of a running watch, mapmyrun, strava upload etc. Further details are available here: Run for Orla
The plan is to meet at the main carpark in Bushy Park at 10am, and run 2 laps of the ‘old’ parkrun course – one clockwise then a second anticlockwise. The 5km option would therefore be a single lap of the old parkrun course.
