Charity places available for The British London 10k, 8th July 2012

I have known a family for many years who very much rely on local charity The Fircroft Trust ( www.thefircrofttrust.org ) for care and support of their adult daughter. The Fircroft Trust is a small charity with residential services and a resource centre providing care for adults with learning disabilities and/or moderate to severe mental health problems living in the community. Their recently-opened residential complex in Chessington (on the site of the former White Hart Pub on the Hook Road) provides differing levels of supported living for 23 adults, and their resource centre in Ditton Road, Surbiton, provides holistic support including social and therapeutic activities, outings, lunches and one-to-one care from support workers in a welcoming and non-institutional environment.

A friend of mine, who started working for The Fircroft Trust last year, has encouraged me to take part in this year’s London 10k Run to help raise much needed funds for them.
The race starts at Hyde Park, passes along Pall Mall, past Trafalgar Square, along and back  the Victoria Embankment, over Westminster bridge and back past Parliament Square and finishes just past Downing Street in Whitehall.

The Fircroft Trust has a few places left for this event, so if you would like to join me in this 10k race seeing some great London landmarks and at the same time raising much-needed funds for such a worthwhile charity, please speak to me at the club or e-mail via the club website. They are also providing post-race refreshments/get together for all their runners at the Civil Service Club located close to Trafalgar Square.
