For anyone who isn’t aware we have the both the club AGM and the Award night just around the corner so make sure you put these dates in your diary.
The usual Wednesday night training will be altered slightly to accomodate the AGM which will be held on Wednesday 22nd May at 8:30pm in the SRFC bar and will follow a short hill session so please ensure you arrive for a prompt start.
There are four Honorary Officers of the Club and three of these posts fall for election each year. This year the posts of Chairman and Treasurer are open for election as well as club secretary although this position isn’t officially vacant for another year. We will also welcome nominations for ordinary members as there will be a few members standing down this year. If you wish to stand for election as an Ordinary Committee Member you will need to be nominated by two members of the club. If you also wish to be considered for either post of Chairman or Treasurer then make sure you are nominated separately for that. You should have by now recieved an email with full details, an agenda and nomination forms but if not please start a new thread in the forums letting us know with your email address and a copy will be sent.
I know a few of people are considering putting themselves forward for committee and having spent 3 years on committee I can say that it is a really good way to give something back to the club and can take up as much or as little time as you choose, it certainly isn’t as demadning as some may think it is. If you are interested in standing and would like further information please feel free to approach a committee member for more details.
The club awards night will again be held as a dinner dance at the Holiday Inn in Surbiton on Saturday 25th May and tickets are currently on sale through Peter Tozer at £30 per head. The evening starts at 6:45pm for 7:30pm and we will again be entertained by the Knight Fantastic Disco by Neil Long from Radio Jackie. This has proved to be an excellent evening and if you have yet to book your seat what are you waiting for, get in quick before it sells out.
One tentative date for your diary is Tuesday 18th June when we were hoping to host our annual Horton park relays. I say tentative because as things stand we are currently experiencing some issues with Epsom & Ewell council granting us permission to host the relays in Horton Country Park but please if you are free to help out pencil this in just in case we do get the go ahead.
And finally Sunday 21st July will be the Captains BBQ at the enclosure at Horton country park where as usual the club will supply the meat etc and hopefully our resident BBQ King Grant Davison will do the honours of cooking us up a feast to behold with the usual fun and games to follow. More information on this event will be posted nearer the time.
