The provisional results for the Wimbledon 5k Grand Prix and Club Championship are available below and updated Grand Prix tables available in the Downloads section.
The absence of early leaders, Aimee and Jack Holland, has made for some changes to the Grand Prix leader tables, with Jason Blair at the top for the men and Zoe Ashcroft for the ladies. Here’s to a greater turnout next time.
Firstly, huge congratulations to our two double winners, Dominic Collier and Zoe Ashcroft, both of whom took the age-graded and past-the-post titles. Good running from you both, Zoe only a few seconds than last year and Dominic even quicker despite a period with less running.
On seeing the 26.2 turnout, and that the total number running had fallen (204 last year, 176 this), I worried that perhaps parkrun founder’s recent words that “if you are a race organiser charging for a 5k run then maybe you need to look at what your doing and changing things” had been taken a little too seriously by Surrey runners, but given that we sent 13 more people to this event last year, half the drop-off is thanks to us and so probably just a blip. 26.2 – influential even in non-attendance!
Particularly good to see returning member Ricky Emery in a race, both he and Matthew Pritchard running faster than their last handicap times might have suggested, despite the hill of doom.
Next up in the grand prix – October’s Cross Country.
Alas I was not able to attend to watch the race yesterday, but have updated the Grand Prix tables for the published provisional results:
|Men||Past the Post||Age Graded|
|Women||Past the Post||Age Graded|
