Grand Prix Schedule 2014/15 Update

Following the completion of GP4, we wanted to provide an update on the 2014/2015 Grand Prix schedule including announcement of GPs 11 & 12.

GP5 is a new race to the calendar, Reigate Half Marathon. This will be held on Sunday 21st September at 9am. Please note this will not be the club half marathon championship. We have secured a discount for club members for the first forty 26.2 RRC members. The discount code is RR14_26.2RRC and gives a discount of £4 against early bird prices and £6 against normal entries making entry £23. Please note that this discount code is only for use by club members and should not be passed on to family and friends.  Misuse of the discount could jeopardise the club receiving similar discounts in the future. Entries for this race are filling up fast and it is about two thirds full.  The organisers expect the race to sell out so don’t delay getting your entry in – so far there are 38 entrants from the club!  You can enter the race HERE

GP6 is a return of an old favourite the Cabbage Patch 10 held on Sunday 19th October at 10am. This is a 10 mile road race starting Twickenham organised by The Stragglers. Over a 1000 people have already signed up for this race so don’t delay getting your entry in as it could sell out.  You can enter the race HERE

GP7 is our old favourite Epsom 10 held on Sunday 23rd November at 9.30am. This will also be the club 10 mile championship. You can enter the race HERE

GP8 is yet another old favourite Horton 10k held on Sunday 14 December at 9am.  This race is organised by David Denton as part of his RonHill Surrey Classic series – you can either enter just this event or sign up for all three races.  David may well retire from organising the event in the next couple of years so this may be one of your last chances to take part in this great pre-Christmas run.  You can enter the race HERE

GP9 will the Surrey League Cross-Country fixtures taking place on Saturday 10 January.  Details of where these are taking place will be posted nearer the time but the ladies usually run at 12 noon and the men at 2.30pm.

GP10 will be the Tunbridge Wells half-maration held on Sunday 22 February.  This event has not been included in the Grand Prix schedule before but it is a long standing well organised half and therefore, we thought it would be a good choice for the club half marathon championship.  Danny, Libby and Steve took part in it this year so you can ask them if you would like further information.  You can enter the race HERE

GP11 will be the Finchley 20 held on Sunday 8 March at 9am.  This event has not been included in the Grand Prix schedule for a number of years but is a long standing well organised event – it claims to be the UK’s longest running 20 mile road race having started in 1933.  It will particularly suit those training for a spring marathon but also a great challenge for those looking to step up from a half.  You can enter the event HERE

GP12 will the Maidenhead 10 held on Good Friday 3 April.  This event has not been included as a Grand Prix before to my knowledge as it usually falls too close before or after the Brighton or London marathons.  This year it is a week before Brighton so perfect for a last longish run.  It is a great event and usually very well attended by club members particularly as the club Chairman usually hands out easter eggs to all finishers.  Entries for the event are not open yet.

If you have any questions on the above, or feedback on any of the events included in the schedule, please let either Libby or myself know or post on the forum.
