May 2013 Club Handicap Preview

D-Day, Crunch Time, Armageddon, well not quite that, but, which ever way you look at it, Wednesday's Handicap promises to be a cracker.  The last race of the series and we already know the first three prize winners but not their order.  With Rosie Gerrard and Kevin Stone both missing one race, David Pearce, who has run all 10, now leads by just 5 points from Rosie with Kevin a further 3 points adrift.  Anybody care to run a book?

Although none of these three can be caught anyone else in the top 20 can fill the remaining 7 prize winning places.  A list of the top 20 start times has been on the Club notice board for some time and I have attached them here as well.  We've done pretty well for helpers recently but we really only need six for the finish.  Perhaps those of you who are thinking about helping on Wednesday should also look to running if we find we have enough.  I would like to see a bumper field out there and a good number in the Clubhouse afterwards whilst a work out the final results. Good luck to you all.

Madrid Half Marathon report

Madrid half marathon done on Sunday 28th April. Over 26,000 runners ready to cover a distance of either 10k, half marathon or marathon. Three races in one.

SUMMARY

Overall a half marathon to repeat, I would also consider the marathon. It would have been a really hard course on a hot day.

The best - great course, good organisation with lots of organisational support throughout the race, good amount of goodies post run and you get a technical t-shirt too.

Need to improve - system to drop bags, get more people out to the streets to support and get more women to run.

Hogsmill Ladies 5

The results from today's Hogsmill Ladies 5 can be found here.

http://www.epsomallsorts.org.uk/?page_id=33

It was great to see such a fantastic turnout at what was a lovely yet fairly tough 5 (.3!) mile race. Unfortunatey we narrowly missed out on the mob match and individual prizes - next time ladies! Well done everyone and thank you to the following for coming along to cheer us on; Kev Stone, Peter Grecian, David Pearce and Alice, Simon Gerrard and the Gerrard kids, Ricky Emery, Danny Norman, Joe Chang and Chang kids, and Don Esslemont.

Grand Prix 12 - Any Kingston parkrun in April 2013

With one more opportunity to go run for Grand Prix 12 - Any Kingston parkrun in April 2013 I thought it would be good to look at how the results currently stand. Interestingly there are a few tied times with John and Joe both on 18:40 and Chris and Moustafa on 21:36 so there is a lot still to play for! If you're planning on running this saturday don't forget  you need to wear your club vest to score and of course don't forget your parkrun barcode!
