October 2016 Club Handicap Result – 100 up

The 100th running of the Club Handicap, in its present format, brought Andrew Pengelly over from Australia. Well, not especially but, after a mad afternoon dash from Norwich, he arrived just in time do his first Handicap since May 2012, having run in the first ever in October 2006. Jo Newstead was the only other runner to compete in both the 1st and 100th.

Alan Harding was first across the line, just 6 secs ahead of John Reardon, both recording PBs. I’m not sure how close Kevin Stone(3rd) was to the finish when he realised that it wasn’t, after all, going to be his day, being caught by these two and finishing 4 secs adrift, but still holding off Richard Hall (4th) by another 4 secs. There were welcome returns for Tom Parmiter (since July 2015), Kirstie Mitchell (May 2013) in 5th and 6th , both recording PBs, and Joe Brewer (April 2011) who hopes to compete more regularly in future. Four others achieved PBs along with six others who ran SBs.

Tom Parmiter (18:08) was fastest man and Daisy Street (21:47) fastest lady.  There were 31 entrants, including 5 first timers, 2 of whom, unfortunately, got lost!. Sarah and Chris, I hope you will try again next month.

No problem with helpers this month and thanks to Ann Bath, Neil Sunderland, Paul Keddie, Steve Ramek, Pete Tozer and Don Esslemont.
