Administrator: How to Email All Members

Send An Email To All Club Members

Note: We still have a few Members who have not got or have not given us their Email Address – this message will not reach them! However, it is a good method of getting information out to most Members.

Along the top row of menu items find;
Components: Hover over this link to show
MassMail: Click on this link

This opens a new Mass email Item. Fill it in as follows;

Group: Leave as it is (All User Groups)
Mail To Child Groups: Leave Blank
Send In HTML Mode: Leave Blank
Subject: A short snappy subject.
Message: ALERT ALERT – It’s probably a good idea to spell check your message BEFORE sending it, type it in Word and then paste it into the form. Remember to break up your message into paragraphs to make it easier to read.

Read your message through again, once it’s sent, it’s sent!

To Send Your Message: Click on the Send Mail icon at the top right of the screen.

Your browser may seem to be doing nothing, but please DO NOT CLOSE IT yet (you’ll cancel the unsent emails from sending). Within a minute or so you’ll get a message saying how many Emails have been sent. Now you can close your browser if you want.

General: How do I change my password?

26.2 Website Administrators CANNOT tell you what your exisiting password is. Why? because we don’t know what it is!

Passwords are stored in an encrypted format in the database and the only way to regain access to the site after forgetting your password is to have it reset to a new one and then change it yourself to one you want to use.

It’s good practice to change your password every so often. The password you choose can make it easy or hard for malicious people to gain access to your website account.

Will I be too slow?

A lot of people are concerned about joining a running club as they think everyone will be built like racing snakes capable of running for hours faster than the wind.  Don’t be!

We have all shapes, sizes and speeds at the Club and people’s effort is more relevant than their overall distance or speed.

“I wouldn’t want to come last in a race”… Well to be honest it’s unlikely that you will, but even if you do, you’ll be streets ahead of the person stuffing KFC into their faces on the sofa…

General: Website Layout – Narrow/Wide

These days everyone looks at the Web from different PCs, Macs and PDAs, some have big screens, some have small screens, some have widescreens, some use 800×600 resolution some use higher. It’s hard to get a site looking right for everyone. With this in mind, if the Website looks too narrow or too wide on your computer, try using the template changer to get a different layout.

Surbiton's friendly running club. Open to runners of all standards, fast or slow. We participate in local races of all distances.
