Finally we are catching up with some of the races missed in December due to the snow. Today it was the Pirie 10 mile.
Five “brave” club members ran the race. I use the word brave because a spectator said that to me on my second lap, he said, “Well done, that’s very brave”. Well, he was right! It was very windy on Farthing Downs and it is hilly at the best of times.
Results now added.
Conditions under foot were slippery but at least it wasn’t ice. A lovely course with beautiful scenery only spoiled by the two BT Openworld tents that had been put up on the Downs because they had to replace a telephone cable stolen last week.
The five were, in finish order, Joe Chang, Declan Flynn, Matthew Pritchard, Neil Sunderland and Kevin Stone. Three out of the five managed to stay upright for 9.86 miles, the course is a little short, but Neil Sunderland and Declan “I let my wife win” Flynn both had a fall on the course.
Supported well by Binkie and Jacqueline, the “three” of them ran the lap the other way so saw us all twice.
