Valentines 10K – Thank You

Well once again our annual club race produced another great turn out by our members to stand on chilly street corners directing traffic and runners alike, hand out race numbers and T-Shirts, offer refreshment to those who needed it, guard the runners baggage, put up and take down course signage, record the times and finish positions and generally do anything that was aked of them making the whole thing run like a well oiled machine.

The Valentines 10K always gets great feedback from the runners who always make a point of telling us how good the organisation and marshals were and this year is no different with a few I have read so far quoted below.

Martin Long from South London Harriers emailed us with:

A great race (again) and you gave us super weather as well. Please pass on my thanks to all your helpers (car park, water stations, registration etc and especially the two young girls helping their Mum dish out T-shirts after the race!) and to all the on-course marshals who gave their time to ensure we all got safely home.

Thanks once again.

Amanda Rencontre rated us on runners world with:

Great organisation, fantastic and enthusiastic marshals and a great HQ. This was the first race I ever did in 2008 and I come back each year. It is just what a local race should be, well organised by runners, for runners.

Well done to 26.2 and many thanks.

Nick Plant rated us on runners world with:

Have done this for several years and it just gets better. HQ is outstanding, with hot drinks, plenty of toilets/changing and an nice atmosphere. Race is relatively flat and quiet, with just a bit on the road at the start.

Marshalls are excellent and all deserve a pint!

With feedback like this it really makes it worthwhile after all the hard work is completed and race has been run. As race director I would especially like to thank you all for your support again this year and particuarly those who did a lot of the work behind the scenes and assisting in the organisation of the event. Whilst most arrive on the day and do thier thing there are those who put a lot of thier own time into the event prior to race day and without those people it simply wouldn’t happen. They all know who they are and should be applauded for their efforts.

Many thanks to one and all and lets hope next years race is even better!
