England Athletics (EA) are the national governing body for our sport. When you join 26.2 Road Runners, you are also given the option to join England Athletics.
Membership to England Athletics provides benefits to you, the club and the sport as a whole. We encourage all members to join.
England Athletics affiliation is not elitist, you do not have to be a fast, distance or any other type of runner. Over two thirds of our club runners sign up to obtain the benefits of membership.
New Members
Upon joining the club, members have an option to sign up for EA affiliation; the main gain for all members is a £2 saving for many running events, including most Grand Prix events. At £19 for the year, members need to run 10 events in the year to gain the full return of the annual EA fee.
New members do not need to select this option when they join the club, sign up can be requested at any time, simply contact the Membership secretary on membership@26point2.co.uk.
More detail is available at the England Athletics website. On their site you can find the full list of benefits of membership.
New Members Transferring
Club members who have previously held EA affiliation to another club need to be aware of EA’s transfer requirements.
- All transfers require an application – see change of First Claim Registration on the right hand side menu: England Athletics Athlete Registration
- Runners who allow their EA membership to lapse do not automatically get released from their previous club, you remain tied to a club until your application is completed.
- If your membership with another club lapsed more than 3 years previous you can apply to transfer at no cost, apart from the annual membership fee.
