Ladies Cross Country Match 2 Dec 1st Nonsuch Park

We had a great turn out of 15 ladies plus 1 guest so had 3 full teams!  A huge field of 342 ladies set off, with a lot of tough competition. We were 5th team on the day, but dropped to 7th after the 2 matches, just 5 points behind 6th despite fielding a strong “A” team.  Our “B” team were 18th, beating 3 “A” teams, and “C” team were 28th and beat 1 “A” team, well done!  Joe Chang has already posted full results (thanks for doing them so quickly) and huge thanks to everyone who helped out at the match, I thought it was the best marshalled Surrey League race I’ve run!  Many thanks to Derick Wilkie who designed the course and helped do a final check with me on the Friday afternoon.  Although the grassy tracks at the  beginning seemed relatively easy, it soon turned harder as a lot of mud and inclines sapped your strength!  The course was perfect for spikes which gripped well in the mud (worth considering as half the price of trail shoes) as it was completely off road unlike some other courses which sometimes have stoney tracks/ some hard paths.

Here is what the Surrey Ladies League organiser emailed:-  “I thought yesterday was brilliant, nice course in a lovely park and well organised by you and your colleagues in 26.2 RRC – please pass on my congratulations to all concerned.”
So Katherine Wilson lead us home followed by Maggie Stacey, Zoe Ashcroft, Libby Marchant and Sharon Andrew making up the “A” team.  The “B” team was lead by Natalie Coghan, then Jo Deeks, Sarah Pettefer, Jo Newstead and Bianca Ochs.  The “C” team was lead by Caroline Dawson then Nikki de Sousa, Ann Bath, Zoe Wingfield and Maria Cenalmor, then guest Jane Davies.

Well done to everyone and I hope to see you all at the last 2 matches:  Jan 12th at Micham Common and Feb 9th at Denbies, both are 8k
