8 ot us lined up for the last match held at Esher, very cold but glorious sunshine and fresh snow. It was a lovely course, some short steep hills followed by downhills, and flat sections opening upfrom the woods and just looked so pretty with the snowy ground which was perfect for running on. The course was a pretty accurate 7.7K and we were lead home by Maggie Stacey in 34.41, followed by Alic Tozer 36.20, Libby Marchant 40.31, Krystal Newbury 44.54 and Maria Cenalmor 46.43 forming our “A” team, followed by Jo Newstead 46.48, myself 47.29, Zoe Wingfield 49.59. It was great hearing how everyone really liked the course and snowy conditions, especially Maria who admits to loving cross country and has really improved since her first match at Woking as a guest! Unfortunately it has been very tough in Div 1 running against the top women in Surrey including some World Champions! So sadly we are in relegation position back to Div 2 but I am very proud that we were promoted last season for the first time ever in our club’s history! Then Maria and I donned lots more layers and went off to support the men at Lloyd Park – a great day out!
