A fairly quiet morning for Club parkrunners on Saturday. 27 members spread themselves over 9 venues with Banstead Woods and Upton Court having 7 each. Ron Hoare received his ’50’ T-shirt just prior to his 60th parkrun at Banstead, and all were first timers at Upton Court, where Libby Marchant was 2nd Lady finisher in a time of 20:53.
I wonder what time Danny Norman and Dave Wilson set off to get to Bournemouth for the inaugural run, Danny finishing 4th and Dave 50th. Kevin Stone was a first timer at Burgess Park clocking 23:30, his fastest time since 22/06/13.
Sarah Pettefer and Greg Whiteman finished close together in a relatively small field of 649 at Bushy with Jon Kinsey being the only other member to run. Andrew Pengelly recorded exactly the same time, 21:45, as last week at Canning River, and at Kingston, Gareth Dawson did 23:22 in his 2nd ever run, a PB by 9 secs.
At Nonsuch, Derek Wilkie gave up ‘tail end Charlie’ duty and ran a proper race, surrounded by his ‘Nonsuch Wilkettes’, and Maria Cenalmor was a first timer at Reading, recording 28:48.
The highlight of this coming weekend will be at Banstead Woods, where, if his knees allow, Neil Sunderland will be running his 350th parkrun, and his 282nd at Banstead Woods. He is currently 4th in the all time list, just 7 runs behind the 3rd man. Those of you wishing to come along and support him, please wear your Club colours.
