GP8 – change of venue, volunteers required

Given the ongoing discussions regarding the future of Kingston parkrun we have taken the considered decision to relocate GP8 (December 15th) to Osterley parkrun.

Osterley has a scenic, firm, flat winter course, free parking (for those showing a parkrun barcode) and a lovely, large café.

It would be great if we were able to muster a number of volunteers for the event. If you aren’t planning to run but can spare the time please offer your services to the Osterley office via osterleyhelpers [ at ] parkrun [ dot ] com (specifying Saturday December 15th of course!).

GP8 at Osterley would be a great introduction for any members yet to experience a grand prix event. Grand prix events are open to absolutely all members, head over to the GP website for further details.

Remaining GP 2018/19 fixtures announced

After another fantastic turnout for last week’s GP event at the Harrier Centre we are pleased to announce the remaining fixtures for the 2018/19 GP season.

GP9 Tadworth 10, a challenging 10 mile course at Epsom Downs. There is an early bird discount which runs until 31st October.

GP10 Dash for the Splash, an awesome cross country race through Wimbledon Common. Bring your trail shoes/wellies.

GP11 Surrey Half marathon, a fast, fully-closed course around Woking and Guildford, a 20% discount code is available via the GP page.

GP12 Thames Towpath 10, a 10 mile multi-terrain race along the Thames towpath around Kew.

Full details of the GP events including how to enter, discount codes (you must be logged in to view these) and the updated GP tables can be found on the GP pages.

GP6 info for runners and volunteers

GP6, 3,000 metres at the Harrier Centre takes place this coming Wednesday 10th October. Entry to the track is free, but please make yourself known to reception staff on arrival so that they can keep tabs on numbers. Please aim to arrive by 7:10pm for a warm-up and be ready to start the race at 7:20pm.

The 7.5 lap race will most likely be run in 2 waves and you can choose to run in either. To get an idea of how many people will be in each wave, where the cut-off time will be and who is able to help out with volunteering please complete this registration form.

Reminder of the GP rules:

In order for their performance to score in a Grand Prix event, members must visibly wear the official club top (vest or t-shirt). If a member is new to the club they must have a current kit order in place for a club top to be delivered in the next order window to be eligible to score GP points. (This decision will be at the discretion of club GP Organisers).

Grand prix update

Well done to everyone who took part in the recent Wimbledon 5k Dash, some great performances and an excellent turnout.

For next week’s Maidenhead half (GP5) please note that we’ll be using chip timing rather than gun and that it also doubles as a club championship event. Entries are still open for those not yet signed up – better get in there quickly!

We are pleased to announce the details for GP events 7 and 8.

GP7 will be the Jigsaw Run. A fast, flat 10km in November at Dunsfold Park (home of Top Gear). This race raises money for the Jigsaw Trust in support of children and adults with autism.

GP8 in December will see us staying local with a visit to Kingston parkrun. This doubles as the Club 5k Championship so please don’t forget your barcode!

Full details of the GP events including how to enter, discount codes (you must be logged in to view these) and the updated GP tables can be found on the GP pages.
