Calling all runners, grand prix is back!
The grand prix season typically consists of a dozen races throughout the season (usually June to April), ranging from one mile on the track to half marathon distance. There are 2 competitions for both women and men; past the post and age graded. For each race, points are awarded to the first 20 men/women past the post, and the top 20 men/women based on age-graded performance.
That said, the GP races aren’t just about speed. The races are good fun and there’s always a great buzz about the place when 26.2 turns up in force. If you haven’t yet tried a GP event, we would encourage you to do so. Here are a couple of events for you to consider:
GP1 Kempton Park 10k – Saturday 14th November
2 laps of the Kempton Park Racecourse, the course is flat and quick. £2 discount code available for our runners. In the event of cancellation runners will be offered entry to a rescheduled event or a partial refund.
GP2 Harrier Centre 3,000 metres – Friday 27th November
Friday night under the floodlights!!! We will run under England Athletics guidelines in small waves. Preregistration is essential, so please keep a lookout for the sign-up sheet nearer the time. Entry fees will be covered by the club.
All club members are welcome and encouraged to take part in grand prix events. To score points, club colours (blue top with red and white stripe) must be worn, or at least on order. Full details of the events including how to enter, discount codes (you must be logged in to view these) and the updated GP tables can be found on the GP pages.
