Horton Relays & Mob Match

Just a quick reminder that next week will be a busy one with both Horton Relays and the first in the series of three mob matches against Collingwood and Sutton. For those who are intending on taking part please read on for further details.



Tuesday 17th June is our Horton Relays held at Horton Country park. For those who haven’t taken part before this is an annual event hosted by ourselves and in order for it to take place we need volunteers first and then some runners so we can enter our own teams. The entries are invite only to some of our local running clubs and it is always great fun.


The event starts at 7:30 so those who can make it need to be there for 7pm to either be assigned your volunteer role or find out which team you will be running in. Moving onto Thursday we have the first of our mob matches against Colingwood and Sutton. Please let me know if you plan to run as I really need to let Collingwood know an idea on number before the event, again there is a forum post -> here <- to let me know.


Collingwood are hosting the first event and Andy Stalley has sent details are as follows:



Time: The start will be 7.15pm to ensure that all are finished before dark, so please arrive in sufficient time to walk across to the grass at the end of the alleyway opposite the club. The start is a little way onto Roundshaw Downs in the same place as we used last year.

Course:  We will be using a cross country route over Roundshaw Downs, in a traditional mass start race.  The course is about 4.25 miles, consisting of 2 laps; the same course we used last year.  A map of the course is attached.  Currently the course is in excellent condition, fine for road shoes.

Parking:  There is plenty of parking in the Croygas Car Park.

Changing:  We have showers and lockable changing rooms available.

Food & Drink:  We will be having a curry afterwards for £4 (Vegetarian option available), so please came you let me know by Tuesday (June 17th) how many you need as a club, as I have to confirm numbers with Sandra.  The bar will be open after the event.

Marshals:  I will need a few marshals and timekeepers, so if you have anyone who is unable to run and coming, please let me know if they are available to help.

Runners:  Could I have a list of the runners by the night before, as I can do a lot of the typing before the event, making registration and then the processing of the results quicker.  You can add or change them on the night, it just makes things much easier for me, the more I have done in advance.
