All volunteers will be welcome for a drink on the club in the SRFC bar just before lunch to thank you for all your hard work.
Club members are asked not to enter this event as we will need all hands on deck to make it run smoothly. (In recent years a handful have been able to run but only once we know we are fully staffed.)
Each year the club hosts a major 10k road race in Chessington/Epsom & Ewell on the Sunday closest to Valentine’s Day. Please put the date – Sunday 13 February (race starts 9:00am) – in your diaries and plan to volunteer in some capacity.
In a normal year (ie one not affected by COVID) this is our second largest source of income, which helps us to keep membership subs as low as they are. It is also a lovely occasion when the club pulls together to organise an event for hundreds of local runners. This year we have also been selected as one of the qualifying events for selection for the England Athletics Masters national team. (See https://www.26point2.co.uk/valentines10k/.)
We have always received fabulous feedback for an event brilliantly run and with such friendly and encouraging course marshals. There are more than a hundred different jobs to be done on the day from course set up and car parking supervision to check-in, baggage drop, start/finish and most of all marshalling (usually in at least pairs).
If you would like to help ahead of the event, please speak to Jacqueline Chang, this year’s Race Director.
Thanks
