Club members were out in force on Sunday 24th June 2018 as they stormed their way around the Harry Hawkes 10 mile race. The Harry Hawkes is a classic run over a fast, flat, and scenic course that offers great PB opportunities. The route winds its way round the Kingston upon Thames Marketplace, the pretty village of Thames Ditton and from Kingston bridge to Hampton Court along the Thames.
52 of our runners completed the course and earned themselves well deserved points on the GP league table. 1st over the line for the men was Alastair McGeoch-Williams in 1:00:53 with Tim Bartholomew (1:01:28) in 2nd, and Joseph Gonzalez (1:01:44) in 3rd. 1st over the line for the women was Victoria Haslam in 1:13:10 with Daisy Street (1:20:40) in 2nd, and Kirstie Mitchell (1:20:48) in 3rd.
There were many other notable performances and PBs all round. It was particularly fantastic to see many of the club’s ladies out in force – a huge increase in numbers compared to last year’s 10 mile GP race.
Congratulations to everyone who endured the heat! The ice cream van and Ann’s legendary cakes were certainly a welcome sight at the finish line!
