MEN’S XC MATCH 3 REPORT

The third Surrey Cross Country league fixture of the season was hosted by Elmbridge RRC on a  dry but  windy Oxshott Downs. It was pretty chaotic at the narrow start and, although not that muddy, quite tricky underfoot with the tree roots, as Chris unfortunately found out.

There were 353 runners (the most so far) and once again 26.2 were the largest represented club with 40 runners and now 65 have represented the club this XC season so far!

Seven were running their first XC of the the season: Ed Rowland, Jay Larkin, Jonathon Lush, Mark Ryder, Matthew Hoare, Ricky Harland and Simon De La Fosse. Our top three runners were:  Ben Chown (30:11, 5th), Tim Bartholomew(32:20, 24th) and  Paul Donohoe (33:59,  59th)

The A team scorers were (6th out of 9 teams):
Ben Chown, Tim Bartholomew, Paul Donohoe, Dom Woodbridge, Jonathon Lush, Max Riley-Gould, Joe Brewer, Craig Partridge, Joe Chang, Mark Cannings

The B team scorers were (3rd out of 9 teams):
David Maher, Geoff Tookey, Tom Sellen, Chris Chapman, Michael Street, Robert Hinton, Jay Larkin, Peter Grecian, Robert Pyke, David Pimm

These are two very strong teams which shows you how competitive the league is this year. We are safe in mid table and so will be running again in Division 3 next year.

(Mrs) Keddie Cakes  went down well but hopefully full  culinary services from Ann Bath will be resumed at the next match.

Final Match: 12 Feb,  12pm,  Lloyd Park– note the earlier start time as all 4 divisions are racing there.

It would be great if we get a  clean sweep and have the  largest contingent again at the final fixture so hopefully see you all there!
