Our annual road race, the Valentine’s 10k is now open for entries. Race day will be Sunday 11th February 2018 at 9am.

Men’s XC TRAVEL UPDATE
Tram is suspended between Wimbledon and Mitcham Junction.
Nicked from The Strags ….
The main thing to be aware of is the tram line between Wimbledon and Mitcham Junction is closed for engineering works on Saturday, so for those of you travelling by public transport, the route is now train to Clapham Junction, where you change for a train to East Croydon and can then pick up the tram to Lloyd Park. So, for example, the 12:18 train from Kingston will enable you to pick up the 12:53 fast train to East Croydon, and from there it is a 7 minute tram journey to Lloyd Park, getting you to the start at 13:16, in plenty of time to warm up etc.”
So please factor this in when travelling!
The GP organisers are pleased to be able to confirm the final three fixtures of the season.
GP10 will feature the return of a race that hasn’t featured in the GP series for some time – the 3000m track race!! This fixture will replace the usual track session on Wednesday 25th January 2017 on the newly re-laid Kingsmeadow Athletics track.
GP11 will be the 5km Club Championship and will be held at Tooting parkrun on a Saturday in February – to be confirmed in due course.
GP12 will be the Club Half Marathon Championship and as chosen by the overwhelming majority of members who voted, will be The Surrey Half Marathon on Sunday 12th March 2017. Please note – this race is guaranteed to sell out, far in advance of the race day itself. We would urge all members who wish to participate in this race to sign up ASAP.
Our kit suppliers, Champion Systems, have now opened a new kit ordering window.
This window is the last one which will deliver kit before Christmas.

We will be co-hosting the second Men’s fixture on Saturday 12th November. As such we will need volunteers to assist with managing the finish funnel and recording results. If you can assist, please can you let Moustafa Fawzy know or post up on Facebook or the website forum!
Our two Cross Country Captains are Moustafa Fawzy and Ann Bath, who will be coordinating things leading up to each fixture.
We would encourage all runners to take part this season. Each fixture is between 4 and 6 miles and of course will be off-road. Cross Country is all about a team effort and getting as many members out for each fixture is the main thing. It does not matter how fast or slow you are, the main thing really is just to turn up, have a run with your club mates and enjoy the fabulous cakes and biscuits afterwards! A number of members will also meet back up in the evening for a well earned Surbiton-based curry.
Unlike most races, these fixtures are both FREE and on a Saturday – leaving you with more money to spend and enjoy on your Saturday evening!

The event starts at the mansion house in Nonsuch park at 7pm on Wednesday 6th July . The course is a 1.87 mile out and back route along the tarmac paths in the park. You will run as part of a 4 person relay team, however if you wish to enter an actual team please ensure you add each team members name to the bottom section of the sign up sheet which can be found -> here <-

Our kit supplier has opened a new ordering window for the club. The order window will close at 5pm on Thursday 26th May.
All kit ordered by this time will be delivered around the end of June, just in time for most of your summer races and of course the summer Grand Prix events.
As well as running kit, our supplier can also provide cycling and triathlon clothing, running accessories and also kit in child sizes too.

All members are invited to attend the 26.2 RRC AGM on Wednesday 18 May 2016 at 8.30pm, at Surbiton Racket & Fitness Club, Berrylands, Surbiton.

There are four Honorary Officers of the Club and ordinarily two of these posts fall for election each year. This year the posts of Club Captain and Secretary are open for election.
If you wish to stand for election as an Ordinary Committee Member you will need to be nominated by two members of the club. If you also wish to be considered for either post of Club Captain or Secretary then make sure you are nominated separately for that.
You must be a first claim member of the club to serve on the Committee. Nominations in writing must reach me no later than 8.30pm on Wednesday 4 May 2016. You can submit them by e-mail to secretary [ at ] 26point2.co [ dot ] uk or to any of the committee members at the club who will pass it on to me.
If you have a resolution to put to the AGM, this must be submitted in writing to me no later than 8.30pm on Wednesday 4 May 2016.
If you wish to make a nomination for a Life Membership, this must also be submitted in writing to me no later than 8.30pm on Wednesday 4 May 2016.

Track session 7.15 for 7.30pm, Wednesday 30 March 2016

For track next Wednesday, 30 March, I am planning a ‘pyramid’ session, which has proved popular in the past. We start with 2x200m, then 2x400m, 2x800m and then back down: 2x400m, 2x200m. There will be groups at varying speeds.
This is all good training for some of the shorter races we see in Spring and Summer, including the Club mile on 1 June.
But for those about to run a Spring Marathon, as last month, there will be a separate group running 4x1200m, if there are enough takers.
We meet at the Kingsmeadow track, Kingston Road. Please arrive by about 7.15pm to complete a gentle warm up (eg two or three times jogging around the track, or perhaps run to the track) in time to begin the formal warm-up promptly at 7.30pm. Not warming up properly before the exhilaration of a speed session is a sure-fire way to give yourself an injury! Entry is £3.40.
This speed session is for all standards of runners, involving groups running at differing speeds. Running short, faster intervals in a speed session is an important part of our overall physical and psychological training programme, building endurance and speed. This would be a good time of year to think about including some sort of speed session once a week in your training schedule. As well as the track speed session, I sometimes do intervals sessions on the road (1/2 mile or 1 mile reps) but do try to arrange these without a road-crossing in the middle of the rep. Or sometimes, I fit in another track session.
